Digital Mammography
Digital Mammography
Everyday, we learn more about breast cancer and how to win the battle. One fact is very clear-early detection is a distinct advantage. Fortunately, breast cancer is highly detectable through digital mammography screening. If breast cancer is detected early, the five-year survival rate is 97 percent. The earlier it’s treated, the better your chance of survival.
Why Digital
A digital system transfers image to a computer so they can be electronically enhanced. The doctor can zoom in, magnify and optimize different parts of the breast tissue using just four standard pictures. And special software allows the physician to view the entire breast on one image.
Our Digital Mammography system is also equipped with a Stereotactic Interventional device. After a suspicious area is identified on the diagnostic mammogram, the physician can perform a biopsy procedure in the same office where the mammogram took place. With the use of a computer, exact location of a breast mass is pinpointed, and x-rays are then taken from two different angles and tissues samples are taken. Outstanding image quality is critical to breast biopsy procedures and this Interventional system offers excellent visibility for clinical confidence. It is an efficient and effective way to provide an accurate diagnosis as quickly as possible.

Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program
Our mammography program meets all of the guidelines set by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA.) More than 9,000 FDA-certified facilities nationwide work to uphold the goal of the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 as amended in 1998: to ensure the safety and reliability of mammography and help detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.
