Parkway Medical Center Now Offering All Private Rooms
November 3, 2011
Parkway Medical Center is now offering all private rooms. “The complete well-being of patients is the primary concern at Parkway Medical Center. This is just one more way we can go the extra mile to provide the highest standard of care for Morgan County and region,” said Tim McGill, Chief Executive Officer.
The goal with this change is to offer improved patient privacy and comfort, decreased noise and overall increased satisfaction. “It comes down to giving our patients the best possible care and we feel like this improvement will allow us to do that,” said McGill.
Patients in shared rooms are less likely to be open about their condition with hospital staff, and get less rest than those in private rooms. Unwanted intrusions such as the television, telephone or visitors to the other patient cause unnecessary stress. It has been demonstrated that stress increases blood pressure, and contributes to longer overall hospital stays. If patients can maintain better control over their recovery environment, stress levels are lowered and hospital stays are shortened.
